Live youth hunt TYHP at Touton ranch

Well several of us from all around the state are getting ready to head to a ranch near Roosevelt TX to hunt whitetail with a group of kids from Texas Youth Hunt Program

We had to scramble and cover guide spots this year and TBH came through like always and we were able to have 3 from here volunteer to help. With out their help we may of had to cancel this hunt.

This ranch has been a part of TYHP for several years and this will be my 3rd time guiding here. It is a bow hunt for whitetail and the kids will be able to take a buck, doe, and pigs. We always have had success on this hunt and normally someone will get their 1st kill or 1st bow kill. The kids we will be guiding will more than likely be very inexperienced.

We have Twist, Lee230, and Wonkdog joining us this year and cannot thank them enough for stepping up. Especially since this is opening weekend of general season.

The service at the ranch is spotty but I think there should be enough for updates.

Today we will meet the kids, shoot with them and make sure all their equipment is set up correctly, and lay out the plan for the weekend.

My son and I have had the privilege to go twice. He loved it. Shoot, we both did! Great time for father and son and new friends!

Good luck to all the hunters! That is where my son really got the bug and “became” a bow hunter! Cannot thank the landowner and volunteers enough!
