Good cheap lodging in cotulla?

there are plenty in Cotulla. Holiday Inn Express, Fairfield Inn, Comfort Suites, Hampton Inn … take your pick.

I prefer the Whitten Inn. They have indoor/outdoor room entrances with breakfast buffet starting early as well as dinner buffet.

Book it early or call for availability - It's been a while but last time I drove through there all the DPS cars were parked at the hotels. They were stationed there to help out with Border Patrol, not sure if they're still there or not.

Dps are out of town, plenty of rooms around. There is about a dozen hotels on town now

There was a major hotel build in Cotulla several years ago to accommodate oil field workers. Several of these hotels now keep floors closed due to not having guests. In fact, there's one hotel in town that is half built--it was abandoned mid-project when Eagle Ford bottomed out and never finished.

Shouldn't be an issue to find a room. We've stayed at Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express for hunts and both have been fine and reasonably priced.

Holiday Inn was nice when I worked out there. Jj country store had a good hamburger steak, the DQ is good when you order in, Taco palenque is not bad but a little $$ for what it is, avoid the McDonald’s(horrible), and the steakhouse there which I forgot the name is subpar, Golden Chick is good.
