Been hunting outside of Sonora for over 30 years. La Mexicana is an absolute NO GO for me. Guess personal preference and with the amount of good Mexican food in the state I really cant stand this place. Remember, local don't have many other options for Mexican unless they head to Angelo. I would rather cook at the ranch. Sutton County Steak House was once a great place. Now it is just a run of the mill diner however the onion rings are really good, steaks really bad. Best bet in Sonora (in my opinion) is Pit Stop BBQ. I highly recommend the Jackalope sandwich! BBQ is not to Lum's (Junction) standards but pretty good. No help with Ozona....... Try not to go further West than I already do unless I am trying to catch a Bronco's game.......

We ate at Lum's in Junction, a couple weeks ago, and everyone had the same comment..."Well that sucked!". Wont ever make that mistake again.

Loved el chatos back in the day. I lived in ozona for 18 years.
When we found out Elvis died, we were eating in el chatos.

Did you all get the same thing? Only thing I can guess is yall went on an off day and happened to all get the one thing that must have been off. I am a regular there as well as many folks I know and everyone plans their day around being at Lums for lunch when in the area. With that said there have been a couple times I have gotten some tough or dry brisket or ribs, but anyone that cooks bbq knows sometimes you just get a bad cut and with prices these days you can't just throw it away.

Or maybe you were at Coopers and not Lums. Then I would understand. That place is YUCK!

La Mexicana is average at best. Tacos at Dairy Queen are better than La Mexicana. La Mexicana does actually have a pretty good burger though. Our lease is really close to the town of Sonora but we cook most of the time at the lease.

The taco shop next door to La Mexicana has a decent breakfast. The only thing that I have had good at Sutton County Steakhouse is their chicken fried steak with mash potatoes and gravy. I will have to check out the onion rings when I am there next weekend. Where is the wild game dinner?

It was definitely Lum's. We all had brisket and/or ribs. We went in just before closing time, so we may have gotten all of the junk that was leftover or something.

Ozona has a Dairy Queen. For something quick that has always worked for me when hunting.

Their loaded tater is pretty dang good.

Dairy Queen closed their drive thru and Sonic is SLOWWWW. Just fyi.

Believe it or not, the breakfast tacos at the Road Ranger are decent.

Must son and I like Isaack's in Junction. They open early and the pancakes are hard to beat.

We usually hit up Taco Grill on Saturday mornings for their breakfast buffet. I swear those pancakes are awesome!
When we do eat at the steakhouse we have always enjoyed their steaks. I might even say they are one of my favorite steakhouses.

I haven’t tried Lalas since they always seem to be closed when I’m hungry lol [emoji23]
