Starting to really get excited for this year's annual Kansas Archery Hunt.
Ten days until I depart from Yoakum, Texas heading to Ottawa, Kansas (Unit 11 in Franklin County) for Six Days of Archery Hunting. Weather forecast is looking really good and I can't wait...
Gonna be A LOT of Long Days before now and then. Truck will be loaded after work on 11/11/2022 ready to pull out around 3-4 am on 11/12 headed NORTH...

My crew is leaving on the 10th, I'm sending my gear with them, and will fly up on the 16th. (They're retired) We'll have until Thanksgiving to get it done. I can't wait. Skipped last year, had twins born on opening weekend. Good luck, you going live here?

My nephew and a couple of his buddies are in Kansas now bowhunting public land. I have seen pics of one big one they took a couple of days ago. Pretty certain I will make the trip with them next year.

I only wish I was hunting the same grounds I did last year, but they sold that property. So back to the Franklin County grounds in hopes a Good One slips up...

Talked with my buddy in Kansas last night and what he is seeing is showing that week after next is looking Very Promising. This week has been higher temps and crazy wind, but the next two weeks is showing some cold fronts blowing in that show trigger it and have the bucks moving. Crops are almost non-existent due to the drought they are in so hopefully corn will have the does coming in and the Big Boys will follow....

I packed my bags a week ago, that's usually done the night before I leave so that will help you gauge the anticipation level.

The Day I have been Waiting on... Nov 11th. This marks the last workday until I head North to the Land of Giants... Weather forecast is showing lows in the 20s and highs in the upper 30s to low 40s.. Slight chance of Snow on Monday, but Plenty Cold that is for sure. All the ger has been checked and double checked. So ready to leave work, fuel up the truck, get home and load up. I am sure sleep will but impossible tonight, but I will try. Plan is to head north around 3:30 am with one stop in West, Texas to see my mom then back onthe road to Kansas.... Man I am READY...
