Polaris Sportsman Front Rack Rail System..???

I picked up a 2010 Polaris Sportsman and it has these two slotted steel rails on the front rack box. Assuming they are made to mount accessories like a gun rack and the likes but can’t find anything on them or what accessories are compatible. Is this an old system not used anymore or am I missing something?

For some reason I remember them being used for bungie cords .

Great question as I’ve been trying to find this out myself. I have an 08 sportsman I bought off a family member that has just over 100 hours on it this year. It’s pretty dang clean and I’m in the process of adding a few things including a gun rack for season. I can find them made for the lock and ride on the back rack but nothing for this weird front rack without drilling and prefer not to put holes in such a clean bike. I also don’t want my rifle sitting behind me. It definitely looks like it’s designed for accessories and I can’t find anything on it.

Looks like you are right. Just spoke to "accessory expert" at Polaris dealership. He said the rails were to strengthen the load capacity of that lid and to strap bungee cords to.

Yep, our 05 is like that. Bungees work well.

So is everyone just drilling into the plastic with fat washers to widen the load of they want a gun rack on the front? I really don’t want my rifle sitting behind me and found lots of holders for the lock and ride system. There are “rack extenders” that put a small Rack around the border of the rack to keep coolers etc from sliding off but can’t find one for this old of a bike lol why’re around $100 and would give a normal rail we’re used to seeing on 4 wheelers for mounting acessories
