    Sabot slugs and nilgai?

Would like to hear from you guys that have killed nilgai with sabot slugs. Which is preferred, lead or solid copper? Is 2-3/4" sufficient or should I go with 3"? Ballistic tip or hollow point?

Never have taken one with a slug, but I would definitely stay away from a ballistic tip. Go 3” Mag. Lead should be sufficient.

I’m getting ready to go in December I’m gonna be using 3” shells with solid copper never have used them before but I figured that would do the trick and get a decent group out to 200 yards

Should be bad medicine for a nilgai. I would look for solid copper 3 inch if you can find them OP.

I don't think that is a good choice. Most of the Nilgai that I have killed or seen killed have been shot between 150-350yards. You will almost never get a clean broadside shot and you will general take shots at them on the run. Go with your biggest and flatest shooting rifle.

I think one of the WMA’s down in the Valley that has nilgai, only allows shotguns. I am pretty sure I saw that a couple months ago, when I was looking at drawn hunts.
