Neighbor got a nice one…

….. with his motorcycle. Crazy time of year. Other neighbor text me yesterday saying that we lost a good 10 pointer in Barnum because the other neighbor hit one with his motorcycle this morning (The deer was very close to my place)

My immediate response was I hope our neighbor is OK. Evidently he was OK. This time of year is always so angst driven…. we watch these deer all summer and then your neighbor takes it out with his motorcycle. Again I’m just happy he wasn’t killed.

Believe me. It’s taken the wind out of my sails. The incident occurred very close to my property and I’m assuming it’s the deer that we watched on camera all summer. But you have to look at it with some perspective… Bucks going to room this time of year and they were going to get shot and hit by cars. My neighbor is a good guy I’m just glad he’s not killed.

I haven’t confirm this but evidently somebody hacked the horns off which is kind of barbaric. So I will never know if this was the deer we’ve been looking at.

One of my favorite stands is probably 500 yards from where the accident happened.

There will be more deer - you can't replace the person. I'm glad to hear he's ok. Crazy that in all that happens after an accident, someone still went for the antlers. Some people have no chill.

Well.. I heard secondhand that neighborhood was going to go get head and mount it…. Which makes me conclude 1. he was not in the hospital (good) and 2. Deer antlers Will drive people to do some silly things. The antlers were hacked off by the time he was able to go back. Like I said it’s just a lot of sad in this whole thing. It made me conclude that I’m lucky there’s even one deer on my land…. it seems like everybody’s out to get them.

Possibly? I don’t even know if he required assistance or not at the accident but that certainly could be likely. True confessions I stayed up late playing cards and slept in. If I had been on the stand I was going to hunt I would’ve heard the impact. Heck… For all I know the deer was under my stand 20 minutes before the wreck. Will never know I’m contending with a fickle game camera on that particular spot.
