Pretty sure this went up to $100. $75 for a quartered deer.

Well, this surely didn't make me feel any better. My youngest boy shot a doe opening weekend of bow season. Got the call to pick it up on Friday. Was able to make it by to pick up Yesterday... $236.00

      One small box of meat....

Bit my tongue and just said thanks....

Back to doing all processing myself

Sausages made or just cuts and ground?

            Backstrap cut and packaged

The remainder in ground. Only thing added was beef fat...

If I had a bunch of sausage made, I would have totally expected it...

I have a good friend that owns a deer processing plant and he said he wasn`t going up this year. I told him that everything had increased in the last 12 months, and he was crazy for not charging more. I suggested he go up 25% across the board. I `ll guarantee you that his supplies, taxes, insurance, labor and utilities have gone up enough to justify the increase. SSI COLA was even 8.7 % this year and 5.9 last year.

That’s sounds about double the price should have been then.

That's simple math, $36 to process and $200 for the brisket.

Seriously, I love these threads. Beside being a labor of love, they keep me interested in processing.

Thats a fair price with today's labor cost and everything else. It`s nice just to back up and have someone unload it and you get to drive away and forget about it. If it's too much, then take it home and work on your meat cutting skills. You never get cheated out of your own meat that way and you can see how much meat actually comes out a 70 lb. doe.

I will gladly trade you ground venison for backstraps.
I wouldn't be surprised if they never make it to the grinder.

I’m sure they don’t. The processors eat good

Please name this processor so that I won't waste time checking them out.

Not why I started the thread. Every business is into making money, and I respect that.

I normally process them myself, I got lazy and paid for the service. Just a reminder of one of the reasons I started processing my own in the 1st place.

I would guess ~$2/pound added for fat.

Edit: i see you mentioned it was over $200. Wow.

Did you take it in quarters? If not, I could see where it would be that much.

Here’s a good reference for the higher side of processing

Good answer. Not all processors are created equal.

I do occasionally use processors when I don’t have time to do it, or I’m on an extended hunt. The prices seem to vary quite a bit. I’ve paid as little as $70 and as much as $230 for one whitetail
