I just drove that route last night, and think I passed around 300 gas stations…..I sure hope you were able to find one that sold you one 20 lb bag, or two 10 lb bags, heck you could’ve even splurged and bought three 7 lb bags…

Buc-ee’s in Temple I think $2/20#bag.

The stand alone ice machine places are normally $2-3 / 16# bag or 20# cooler dump.

Never seen one over $2. This is where I get all my ice. One in Rogers and one on Hwy 36 west of town.

I must only find bad ice at the grocery store, gas station, liquor store, beer barn, sonic drive through, ice vending hut and even home made ice. Leave it out and it all melts

The ice at the dispensers is not as cold because it melts & replenishes constantly so it melts faster than bagged ice from a freezer.

There are absolutely differing qualities of ice. It has to do with oxygen content which affects density which in turn affects melt rate. Or so I have read.
