Prednisone makes me crazy, but it works great. Guaifenesin(Mucinex) will help you cough the gunk out.

Prednisone didn't do squat for me when I had it. The ER dr. gave me something else that worked very well.

OP, good luck. Pneumonia sucks, that's for sure. The ER doctor said I had a mild case and I thought I was gonna die. I'd hate to see what a bad case was like.

I didn't think I'd ever stop coughing. The medicine the ER gave me, Nyquil and ibuprofen got me through it.

As mentioned above, don’t just lay down for too long. If you do need to rest, change positions so the liquid doesn’t settle onto the same area/spot on your lungs.

I've had it twice. 1st time in one lung and 2nd was double lung. 2nd time was like i was coughing my guts up to the point it hurt. Dr gave me some prescription cough syrup was a serious suppressant.. felt like i was high, drunk at the same time. It was enough that I could get some sleep and just laid in the bed for 3-4 days until I got better.

They gave me prednisone and told me to drink lots of water. Dr. said the water will help loosen up all the stuff in your lungs. I was back to work in 5 days.

Took a couple months for me to stop. I had in mid-January and did a training in mid-March in which I had to speak for two days and had to take several breaks to catch my breath. I used throat lozenges to help suppress the cough and albuterol breathing treatment to help me breathe.

I had it for like 6 weeks, finally got annoyed and went to the DR. Antibiotics and some sizzurp fixed me right up. She was surprised it took me so long to go to DR.

Ive never had pneumonia.

Have any of Yall pneumonia “survivors” feel it was better to sleep sitting up versus laying down flat?

I had pneumonia back last December and all I ever had was a high fever one night and went to urgent care next morning. Never coughed, short of breath or any other symptoms.

Found it by chest x-ray when all the other tests came back negative

My wife was hospitalized back in August with it. She's still coughing, and hacking stuff up. Her doctor has her using a nebulizer, and rescue inhalers.
