    Poly Tank Repair Questions

I picked up a couple of poly tanks to build some blinds but they need some repairs. One is cracked and busted open on the topside and the other is crinkled in. I was thinking about using zipties to sew the busted one up and possibly some fiberglass and resin to seal it... and with the crinkled one would it be easier to pop out if it were heated up first? Just looking for some pointers if anyone has had any similar experiences so that I don't mess them up or waste a bunch of money & time. Thanks

For the one that's crushed inwards, I'd try filling with water. The pressure may be enough. If not, sealed up and sitting in the sun might. As for the torn one, they make plastic welding machines. Might do what you need. Post pics in the DIY when you're done.

I have one that the top was broken along one edge. I tried everything I could think of, nothing worked. I ended up building a small shed roof over it, problem solved.
I used valley tin and riveted it inside to reform the line. Then, I caulked all of the cracks and joints. I then fiberglassed over the top, but it wouldn’t stick after a bit in the weather. Even roughed up the plastic for a better seal.

For the white one, cut the top out and turn it over and pour a concrete floor or treated runners with plywood to hold the roundness.
The blue one, try to pry it out after it sits in the hot sun. I don't think the water pressure will be enough just by filling it.

Try ether and flame. Will ether :-) work or be a catastrophic failure.

the cracked one will probably never seal water tight so you might be better off just making a light weight roof or draping and anchoring a couple heavy tarps over it. The bent up one, if that defect is above the windows or door then i'd leave it. Chances are it will also break if you try to hard to straighten it out

For the cracks in mine... I tried to push it out the best I could then Screw a 1x4 on the inside. then caulked the heck out of it and put flashing on top of it. It’s held so far.

I texted the pics to my youngest brother. He used to work at a place that makes poly tanks. This is his reply

"To me the white one is junk because it has a hole on the top and then the blue one depends you might be able to climb in and push it up or you might have to carefully heat it and push it up or else it just might be junk also“

Hopefully you got them for free. They are both junk.

This will work! I did it on the side of one of mine. Try to get it lined up the best you can and screw it in so it pulls together straight. Then get you some of that black tar looking roofing and spread it on thick to seal her off.

If you can find an old fiberglass satellite dish, that would make a great roof for the white one. I think if you can get inside the blue one you can stand or jump on the bulge and push it back out. The plastic on mine is not that thick, not that hard to manipulate. We made a repair by using metal flashing, one piece on the inside and one on outside, screwed together with silicone between to make a sandwich.

Cut the tops off, turn 'em upsidedown, set 'em on a platform/base
