Ran out to the lease to drop off some stuff and pick up some cameras. Noticed one of my pop ups was out of position and a side was popped in.

Pop out the side. And open the door step in to grab the chair off the ground. Notice some movement. Jump out of the door. Adrenaline pumping.

****ed rattlebug was curled up under the chair. Thank god it was cool this morning and he was moving slow. Took him out with a tpost.

You better believe it. Been on this place for a decade only the 3rd time I’ve seen a rattler. So not as snake aware as I should be.

We have a cattle panel blind that has had two rattlers and a skunk in it in the last year. I finally had enough and poured some quickcrete around the base and made a concrete thresh hold for the door.

This is why all of our pop ups are on stands. I crawled in one during turkey season before first light and a four footer started buzzing. I’m 6’4” and getting out of a pop up isn’t easy. The three year old girl that lives inside of me for these occasions had no problem that morning. The snake ended up dead, the pop up was 30 yards from its original location, every turkey in the county was alerted, and I vowed never to crawl in a pop up on the ground again. I haven’t broken that promise yet.

We've killed 30+ around the barn/patio area at our place in DuvalCo this year alone. During her first visit, GF asked why i was walking so cautiously, looking under every chair, nook, and cranny. "After you hear the buzzing of your first a couple feet from you, you will too."
