    Lowrance depth finder help..

    I bought a kayak from a friend, it came with a Lowrance Elite4 hdi…

I finally found the power cable, and it has 3 leads.

Assuming red is hot, black is ground,,, what is yellow for??
    And where does it go?

It's a "wake up" wire for networking to other units/devices. If you're only installing this as a stand alone unit, just cap it off.

Thank you sir, that makes sense.

I have a Helix 7 on my other yak, and it only has 2 wires. That’s why I was confused.

I’d still put a master power switch or disconnect battery when not in use. They’ll still try to draw power when off.

He must have used a cable off a different unit. My Elite 5 HDI only has a black & red wire.

My 5 HDI has 4 or 5 wires - black, red, yellow, blue, maybe white. I can't remember for sure but it's at least 4 wires. It does have GPS tho.

Actually it has like 8 but only 3 power wires. It's this one
