    Hunter's Moon 2022

Hunter's Moon lighting up the Southeast Iowa sky.

October's full moon, the Hunter's Moon, occurs on Sunday (Oct. 9) when the moon will appear large and orange-hued on the horizon at around sunset.

May be a good night for the east Texas spotlighters but in West Texas the deer are feeding at night and staying put during the day.

Same in Montgomery County. Why would a spot lighter want a full moon? [emoji23]

If you live in an isolated cabin way out in the country, be extra vigilant. This is raiding season for the Comanche.

Deer up feeding at night makes for target rich environment.

I live in the country but the only raider I saw tonight was an armadillo. My JRT escorted him off the yard and in about two minutes he was back……just like a Comanche.

Not according to my FIL. Deer don't move during a full moon, because they can see their shadow. I don't have the heart to tell him otherwise.

We live in an isolated house in the middle of nowhere, but this was Ioway, Dakota Sioux, Illini, Missouria, and Otoe country.

Saw it here in west TX as I was walking back to the house from the blind.

Nah you want it extra dark for the spotlight to work properly. I mean so I hear [emoji6]

Yep gotta have dark nights to headlight deer. Even rabbits get spooky on moonlit nights. They can see you before you spot them. They won’t stand when you hit em with the light. Or so I’ve been told. d
