    Coin appraisal question

We are going through my FIL's estate and have found bags and jars full of quarters and half dollars. Most are from the 1970's and I just can't help but think that he kept all of these coins because he knew something.

Is anyone here an expert on coins or know where I might find some more information about them?

Gonna mostly be face value if they’re from the 70s

What bullets13 said. Pre 1964 is what you’re looking for.

Yes but 1965 to 1970 Kennedy 1/2 dollars are 40% silver

And just to be clear it is 1964 and older are 90%, I have had people think pre 1964 is 1963 and back

You might find some error coins in there that are worth a little more than face value. The other day I found an offset struck dime that is worth about $10.

I might be interested in some of the 50 cent pieces if y’all don’t plan to keep them . Something to put back for my kiddos .

Any EISENHOWER Dollars? Years ago I was getting $2 a piece at gun shows, kids loved them.

Actually, yes. I know I saw one but I bet there are others in there.

What books or website are y’all using to determine the specific coins current value?

So, I found some older coins. 1945, 1964, 1966, and 1967 half dollars; 1942 quarter; 1941 and 1947 nickel; three 2005 Buffalo nickel; two gold 2000 dollar coins; three 1979 dollar coins.

Going to get them checked out. Any ideas from anyone one here. Anything worth it?
