How did he know it was coyotes? I must have missed it. Maybe it was some poacher/trespasser that just wanted to see if they had the deer quality that they were claiming.

I have a story that is too long to type out so I will make it short - I had a similar situation in a very large subdivision around Austin. Deer hit by a car on the main road into the neighborhood. Folks called the cops and I called the game warden. There was no way this deer was going to live. Back legs/hips broken. This was at 5:30 in the evening and folks were out walking, riding bikes, etc. Skipping the comedy that ensued (we preformed an emergency C section that came up empty). The doe looked pregnant and folks in authority thought she was still carrying, but she must have just dropped the fawn before she got hit and was hiding her in the woods near the road. I was told that if it happens again, face time a warden or animal resource officer showing the deer and while they were on the phone I could dispatch the animal. I am not sure if I buy that or not but that is what I was told.

Mother Nature can be cruel !
Shows how much blood they can lose and still be alive.
Surely the guy gave him some relief. Law or no law I allow nothing to suffer !
