I have a 98 500. None of the lights come on anymore. Does anyone know what could be the problem? Thanks for the help.

Are all other electrical accessories working? tail light, etc? Do you have an instrument pod with indicator lights (hi/lo beam, gear indicator, etc.)? Does it all work?
Some of this might be obvious but here goes:
1)verify bulbs are ok.
2)check for fuse: both for lights, and other accessories that could be tied to light circuit.
3)take off switch cover, maybe jumper it and see if you can get light to come on.
4)start digging into wiring diagram
Here is a wiring diagram for 2000.
Probably REALLY close. (I have a 2003)
I don't see a fuse for the headlight on the diagram. You need to take the front panel off and dig aroung a little.
Right click and save to see it better.
Don't know if you are farmiliiar with wiring diagrams so I marked up what to look for here.
(again right click and save)
follow wires btw "red squares", note color of wires, find 'em on your rig.
looks like:
grn and brn wires feed low beams
yel and brn wires feed high beams
There is a splice where several grn wires come together, check that for good connections.
A test light or meter would be helpful also.
Hope that gets you started.Last edited by Philip-TX; 05-15-2009, 10:02 AM.

had the same problem with mine. my battery went bad and i had to pull crank it, heck it cranked with half a pull so i thought id wait to after season to get a new one. a month or so later lights out. polaris mechanic told me that the way there wired if the battery go's out and you keep running the lights it will eat em up.
