Unfortunately the big axis never came in. I had to jump on a work call just before dark.

I’ll be back at it for a short hunt in the morning before work.

It’s a brisk 37 degrees here this morning! I saw some chasing this morning on my drive to Garcia.

Was definitely not expecting this cold of weather this morning. Had to go back in and get my jacket. Good luck, lots of critters moving on my drive from Wimberley to Dripping this morning.

I’ve had axis and whitetail in the pasture NW of the group of trees I’m in. I was able to watch through the trees while I was on a conference call for work.

The whole herd of Axis suddenly took off running to the south (west of me) and then turned and ran west back toward where. My pickup is parked. They were followed by two coyotes. One young axis got separated and came my way, just across the road and walked toward Garcia. It walked through an opening at about 30 yards, but I decided not to shoot at it.I was hoping the yotes would follow.

I guess it wasn’t the whole herd. I’m glassing and there are still several axis grazing to my NW. they are a couple hundred yards out.

The axis are bedded down and hanging out under a group of trees NW of the stand of oaks where I’m hunting. They are probably 90-100 yards from where I am.

Hop down and go sneak up on them! Axis are easy to sneak up on when they are bedded!
