    Grinder Upgrade Question - #32

Alright guys - hate to start another grinder thread but couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for.

I’ve been using the older model Cabelas 1 HP #22 for 10 +years and just wanted to upgrade. Sometimes we’re doing 6-10 deer at a time and try to get it all done in one day.

I bought a Weston PRO #32 (2 HP) on the recent sale from their website. I had read reviews about how skinny the neck was and after unboxing I was shocked at how skinny the throat actually is. It seems that I’d have to cut the meat up so much smaller than my current #22, therefore not really saving me any time.

I’m considering returning it and going for Cabelas Carnivore or LEM Big Bite #32 instead. Anyone else upgrade or have any comments to affirm my concerns regarding the Weston PRO neck size (or reassurance that despite the neck size its still a substantial upgrade?). TIA

I have the 32 Weston and have no issues, I cant compare it with the 22 because I went from a much smaller grinder to tghe 32. The 32 will eat anything I have shoved in it.

I’m amazed you could feed a 1hp faster than it could grind it. We do 3/4 deer with 40/50% pork and never found time to be a problem.

Sorry me help with a larger hp.

Do you have the Westin Pro with the new design of the skinny throat?

I've got the LEM #32 Big Bite and usually grind batches of up to 50lbs of meat at a time. I can't feed it fast enough to bog it down...don't know the actual neck size but it hasn't been an issue or limiting factor.

Takes longer to clean it than it does to grind multiple deer (plus pork for sausage mix). No experience with the other brands.

I had the carnivore #32 and it is a beast. I felt like it took me longer to clean it than to chew through 50lbs

If I were you I would return it, sell the one you have and get a ProCut #22. Your grandkids will still be using it after you are gone. 120 volt , 1 true hp and rated at 1,800 lbs/hr first grind. Made like a tank, big throat so you don’t have to use a stomper plus the auger head spaces on the motor so no thrust washer required. No need to semi-freeze the meat since the grinder stays cold as the meat going through it. Worth every penny if you do much processing.

Thanks! I’ve looked at this one but the shipping weight says something like 166 lbs! I’m not a lightweight but want to make sure its something I can take out to use but put it away in the off-season.

I bought this #32 almost 15 years ago. It has been great. Someone had one for sale in the classified's a while back.

Not all #32's are the same. Here's mine. I agree the procut is an excellent choice with a large throat and pan. I built a small cart for mine and just roll it under my sink when not in use.
