I keep seeing mixed reviews about them, half love them and half say they are garbage. Are they garbage because those people can't figure out how to use them the right way?

I spend hundreds of hours shooting and thousands of dollars in equipment to be as accurate as I can be especially in a non textbook shooting situation. I won’t compromise that with a sight incapable of accuracy

            EZ V sight

The concept is based off stadiametric range finding. Same thing they used for tank guns in WW2.

The owner claims all vitals are around the same size (8 inch ball, size of basketball). It has some positives and some definite negatives.

            Positives
            - inside 40 yds I didn’t need a rangefinder
            - it’s not as subject to dim pin issues
            - it’s not as aiming intensive and seemed to help with target panic.
            - your brain automatically knows how to center something between two points
            - fairly durable sight

            Negatives
            - it’s “pie plate” style accurate. If you’re used to punching X’s, this isn’t going to be the same.
            - Texas whitetails just seem smaller to me than the envisioned use
            - best of luck shooting past 50 with this thing as the “hash marks” weren’t great.
            - it has 0 micro adjust, and you switch out rings to get your speed. Mine never did match what the claimed speed they were rated for but that’s the same issue I have with sight tapes.

I’d say if you have eyesight issues, like astigmatism, etc, it might be worthwhile. But otherwise I much prefer a multi-pin slider as I hunt out west now and then.

I will say, when we rolled a Rinehart 18-1 out at random distances and shot without rangefinders, I was drilling the target at off yardages (34,27, etc.) while my buddy was hitting a few inches high or a few inches low.

I understand the concept of the sight, but every animal has different size vitals. I like to shoot squirrels as well, so I think I'd be shooting 10 yards over them when I put their vitals the V.

Yeah… what was the final straw for me, I had a doe come in that looked small to me.

I lined her up in the V at full draw and according to the sight I figured 40 yds.

Got my rangefinder out, and she was only at 25. I was done after that and went back to my Black Gold.
