Rut in September in SETX?

I live in Fannett, but have never hunted here. I watch the deer in my field, and my wife names them, so I don’t ever go after them. I just watched a buck with his nose to the ground maybe 30 seconds behind a doe who was hauling across my field. I’ve heard that the deer rut sooner down here than further north, but mid-September sure seems early. Anyone that hunts out this way have any input?

Coastal Whitetail will rut as early as August, that is what you are seeing

I’ve seen bucks running hard towards the end of September some years around Sour Lake so yes.

Thanks, knew that they were, but I’m used to a rut closer to November up north

Currently live in Hamshire grew up in this area my whole life. They typically start about now and get after it really hard the first week of October.
