Danner Snake Boots

I have worn Chips for the last 15+ years and loved them but they bit the dust finally. I tried on the Danner Sharptail today and was blown away by how comfortable they were. My only concern is the tops around the calves seem much thicker than my chips and I am worried about them being way too hot during warmer temps. Anyone have experience with both to know if they are noticeably warmer than the Chippewas or not?

Not much help, I've only worn mine a few times so far, but they are so light and comfortable!

I have had a pair for about 3-4 years. They are warm, but the most comfortable snake boot I have ever had. I have not had Chipps.

Had them for several years and love them. Never had Chipps.

Danner runs some nice sales in the off-season!

They are warm in summer, but I think all high top boots are.

I switched from Chips to Danner last year after reading reviews on here… I will never go back to chips. Love the Danners.

I've had Chips, Danners, and Justins. The Chips were by fare the worse. Won't do that again. The Danners were nice. I had to have the ankles opened up to make the turn with my foot. The Justins are my favorite though. The Danners were not that much better than the Justins to justify the price. I had the boot place extend the Vs a little front and back for my large calves.

I have the sharp tails and they are fantastic. Super comfortable and can wear them all day. I guess I never really notice if they get hot or not but I’ve never had an issue with them during summer months

I had chips for a long time. Bought a pair of Danner moc toe snake boots 4 years ago. I have big calves. No problem with these. I could wear them daily.

I’m on my second pair. First pair lasted about 5 years. Started guiding and the blood really draws them up. Bought my second pair last year and it was just like slipping on my old pair. Super comfortable and made a lot of long stalks chasing Nilgai in them just try and keep the blood off them.

If you do a lot of walking/stalking and work in them you can’t beat their comfort. I wore chips for years before I swapped and it took years to get them broke in good and even when they were I couldn’t wait to get the things off.

I'm a big fan of the Danner San Angelo snake boots. Much, much more comfy compared to Chip.

The sharptails are crazy comfortable… I just couldn’t wait anymore! They told me they’ll be on the shelf in fall / winter of 2022. … I broke down and bought another pair of chips back in June.
