    Fleshing a coon hide

I thought this might help out with hides. Disregard the timeline of the text. He was really trying to smile, but was in some pain with his new teeth gear(braces)
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been showing my son how to do a few things the past few years. Today we worked on fleshing coon hides. I saved one of my buddies dogged coon to let him work on. I thought he did pretty good for his first one!

For the first ten or so hides every season, I feel like one too!

I'm doing what I can to keep my son on the right path. Anything related to the outdoors is better than video games. He'll be running some of his own traps this year, and do his own skinning and fleshing. At thirteen he's learning pretty fast and doing a decent job on coon. I'm hoping he gets a beaver next year to work on.

I hated fleshing SO MUCH!! I would just roll my hides up and freeze them .... my local buyer would buy them just like that and not ding me on price.... Speaking of beaver..... lol!! THEY ARE ALWAYS FUN TO STRETCH!
