    Are coons right handed?

I have trapped 6 animals in the last couple of weeks, 5 coons and one porcupine. All but one had their right paw in the Duke trap. The other had both paws in it. Anyone ever notice which paw you are catching? I know, slow day at work.

Surely there are some “ South Paws” in the raccoon family. Pun intended.

In my study of raccoon handedness, they tend to be right handed but left foot dominant.

In my studies I’ve found them to have four legs and no arms or hands.

2-3 oz of marlin in a small bowl and mix in a can of Coke. Put it right under your feeder. The deer won’t touch it, but the coons will once.

Never gave it much thought so I reviewed past pictures of coons I caught in my traps. Of ten I’ve got pics of, seven were right handed and three were left handed.

Good question…I don’t know. They walk on them like paws but use them like hands. Haws? Pands?
