we have had them as far as 250 yet as close as 60,
like stated, depend on who is shooting, what the deer are used to and what kind of optics your using.

Mine is about 50 yards since any further, you wouldn't be able to find it again. Really thick in Lamar county. Tough gun hunting, but good for bows since I have deer under my stand every year.

Always tried to stay in the 150-175 range but also always hand throw corn.

I like around 125-150. When I hunted the hill country I didn't have em much over 100 but down here that is pretty close. Especially when you corn all the senderos anyway. The only two bucks I have shot down here were not at feeders anyway. One was nibbling some hand thrown corn along the edge of a sendero and the other was "hiding" along the edge of a sendero checking out a doe. One was 90 yards the other was 120.

One is 100 the other is 150. They where setup for the best overall view of the area, not really in relation to the feeder.

Well, guess I'll put in my 2 cents worth. I agree with the stand on 'depends on the shooters ability' for a basic rule. I woudln't put a 'occasional' shooter in a stand that had a large range of distances to shoot from, or long rang shots. A well known distance makes it easier for a inexperience shooter, especially if you know at what distance the gun was sighted in with. But, I do think you have to take into account what you might be shootin with as well(30.06 at under 100yds can take a toll on meat). So, experience coupled with ability and knowledge should be your formula. I have shot out of stands out to 360yds. Good luck and good hunting. God Bless.

Mine is set at 90 yards. Close enough for 30-30 action yet far enough away for anything else.

That's exactly how our ranch is set up. (minus GT's expert guide service )
Out of the 12 rifle blinds we have, they are all 60-100. I think one may be over 100yds, but not by much.
