Big Bertha vs X18 vs r7 Draw

Anyone have any input on these three irons?

Looking for a forgiving beginner type club and i think i've narrowed it down to these. BB and X18 felt very similar to me but someone said the X18 allow more room to grow into them as my level of play increases. Guy at EdwinWatts suggested the r7 b/c of a slight slice and said they were great beginner clubs. They are lighter than the other two but I didn't dislike the feel of them. Just looking for more opinions.

That was another concern of mine that I didn't add up top.... It seems like by doing that you are falsely correcting a problem instead of fixing the swing. Then if I ever were to fix it I'm stuck w/ a draw even if I don't want it.

Why not go with the x20s, newer? The BBs are really for a beginner. Very forgiving. You can use the x18-20s forever or until you are ready for the blades and shape all your shots at will. Being a weekend hacker, I would go with the 18s or even the 20s. Clubs can not correct bad form. I'm from the thought of why buy something that I will have to upgrade later. Go with the intermediates, since you will get better with practice and grow out of the BBs.

I bought the Taylormade Tour Burners over the R7's...Love 'em. But you need to get what fits you.. Also go to a stronger grip, thats what got rid of my nasty slice. The ball would go 100 yds straight and 150 yards right...

That was a consideration, but I was looking at it like this...

If I can buy a new or gently used x18 set then I can pick them up for a considerable amount less than the x20s. And right now, am I going to see any difference if I were to buy the x20 vs the x18?

love my big berthas. I am able to draw and fade the ball at will. Well... when I was playing alot. Cant go wrong w/ callaways. course, its like buyin a bow. go hit them, see which ones you like and buy them. dont go by someone elses opinion.

my x-14s purchased 6 years ago have been a great investment. i never scored very well as a weekend hacker but i have gotten consistently better over the years. the technology has gotten better since then so i can only imagine the x-18/20s are pretty sweet.

I've got a Titleist 983K Driver and an Orlimar 5wood in great shape if you want either. I'd sell you my Tour Griffitts blades but you don't want to start golfing with blades

I bought a set of Callaway X18's yesterday. I played 18 holes with them and I could not shape my shots like I could my blades. I just don't play enough for now to play with the KZG's.

But...they hit straight....too straight. I am going to have to go away from playing the draw that I play with my blades. They are very forgiving....you can't mi**** with these clubs.

Go to Golf Smith and buy the Callaway X18's for $400. There is not an ounce of playing ability difference between the X18's or the X20's. The X20's are $200 more and the X22"s are $300 more.

You will like the X18's, plus you get a sand wedge with the set.

Get some neutral clubs and go take a lesson for $50 to fix your slight slice. You'll be better off in the long run.

Either the Calloway's or Taylor Made's will be fine clubs. There is no need to get the "latest and greatest". Last years model will be great. Get the one that looks best to you at address and that feels the best when you hit it.

Rockbottomgolf.com has the X18 for $369 and you can usually find a promo code 10-15% or free shipping.

I am slowly getting adjusted to my new Powerbilt Citation FZ-1s that I got last week.
