    Mini Split or Window Unit

Built a 400sqft office into my barn, foam ceiling and blow in walls, looking for AC advice. Mini split guy wants $850 for a one ton 115 unit installed or I could buy a 12,000 btu window unit for $600. I don’t mind spending a little extra if needed but mini split guy has been flaky. Wife hates the look of window unit but I can put it on back side. Suggestions?

Stay away from window units. Mini for sure.

Seems like a mini is probably the way to go!

Pretty big fan of the mini split in my garage that’s all foamed and prb 900 sq ft. Have a Sensibo unit I can control it from my phone and just set it. It’s always cool in there and no humidity.

I had the same dilemma and decided on a window unit. I bought a 10000 btu Midea u-shaped unit and am happy with it so far. But, I’m cooling a 300 sq ft apt and only used it about a week. It gets the place cooooold! Easy DIY install and < $600.

850 sounds too good to be true for a mini split installed.

Mini but make sure it’s a good brand

Waaaay low. The Gree units i have priced are 1700-1900 for just the unit without installation. Planning 2 more smaller ones in the house and will eventually take over for the central.

OP, the mini splits are the way to go. Plus they have a heat pump for winter.
