Where Do They Go?

I have always heard that when we have a rain event right before the dove opener, they disappear. Where do they end up? West Tx where it is drier or back north or Old Mexico. Just wondering.

I don't think they disappear as much as they disperse. If there's only a few water holes around the doves in that area will go to those. If there are water holes everywhere they can go wherever they want. Same amount of doves they're just spread out.

This early, they just scatter out, and use different food sources.

This has always been my feeling. They don't have to hang close to tanks or other weather sources; they now have multiple puddles and water sources, so they just scatter and are not concentrated.
