    Tree Trimming Price

I’ve got 5 decent size live oaks to be trimmed up, a decent size live oak that didn’t survive the big freeze to cut down, a smaller hackberry to cut down, a massive live oak (45+ feet tall) to be trimmed up and a huge red oak to be trimmed up. Quoted $1500/day and said would take 2.5 to 3.5 days. Checked around town and seemed like a good deal. Haven’t ever paid a tree guy before, is this in line?

Seems high, but I don't know your exact situation.

Today, I paid $200 to get all the sucker limbs cutoff of a 40 year old live oak. They had to get 25 feet up, to do it. They also carried off the limbs.

In the past, I have paid nearly $300, for the same job, but stacked the limbs in my drive-way.

I have to do this, every year.

Here is my take. If they knock on your door, looking for tree work, you will get a better price. They need work. Just make sure they are bonded/insured.

This. And make sure it covers tree trimming.

I learned the hard way on this. Guy said he was insured until that live oak limb crushed my AC compressor and then found out he was only insured to cut grass.

I pay around 1250 per day. It might be closer to 1400 now, I forget exactly. I give them alot of business and I tend to favor no haggle pricing with my contractors. Get in get out. Move on.

Sounds about fair MrCrippler… time and price. Good luck.

2-3 days will turn into 5-6 with a daily rate.
You have alot of work to be done & tree crews spend half the day in the shade on their phones cooling off in this heat.

          Good luck

Seems about right to me. I just received a quote from a tree service to trim two big live oaks and two big cedar elms on a job and its $2250. They chip and haul off everything. This is a one day job. You may want to get a total job price instead of a daily price. JHT is right it could turn into several days if they charge by the day.

I think that’s a pretty good deal for the amount of work.

I got a price of $2000 to take down a big water oak that never recovered from the freeze. Noticed a spit and bark starting to slip this last weekend. Went ahead and cut it to fall it where I wanted it.Will work on cutting it up when cools down a little.

This, get a total job quote and let them figure out how long it takes.

Sounds good, does if it include grinding that stump

I’m an Arborist and own a tree service outside of Houston. I never give daily rates and wouldn’t accept one if I was a customer. Get an actual quote with each tree listed on its own line item. Then, even more importantly, get a binder with you listed as the customer from their insurance company. As far as rates go, you can’t get a fair and equal comparison from different parts of the state. Here in our area, you can have two quotes on a job like yours thousands of dollars apart. One company pays its taxes, insurance, WC and registration….the other one doesn’t and doesn’t speak a lick of English

                        100%
I have done it both ways, licensed and unlicensed
The license place was $4000 to remove a 40ft pecan tree away from the house, had zero damage or problems
The unlicensed did a good job , but that Sunday the crew returned
And tried robbing my house, luckily my wife saw them carrying our stuff to the truck.
IMO a little more $$ brings some peace of mind

Yes it does. Thanks everyone for the responses, I'll see if I can negotiate a total price, seems like I could get held hostage with a daily rate.
