I don't recall ever listening to him live, but I've heard broadcasters play snippets of him. The way he could call a game and tell a story at the same time is amazing. There's a clip of him reading a grocery list that is great.

This right here alone made him a legend.

Magical. That's a great word for his broadcasts. He could turn the most mundane games into great listening experiences.

We also have a great one on the radio here with the Rangers. While not quite in Mr. Scully's league, Eric Nadal is fantastic at painting a picture of the game with words.

Take 10 mins and listen to this masterpiece. Two humans at the top of their profession and it feels like you are there. Absolute perfection.
A look back at Vin Scully's memorable call of Dodgers pitcher Sandy Koufax's perfect game at Dodger Stadium on Sept. 9, 1965.

Lot's of good ones I have enjoyed, but I agree Vince Scully was "the best".

I listened to a lot of the game yesterday, and it was about 80% Eric Nadel gushing over Mr. Scully, and it was fantastic!

There are 3 or 4 up there near the top, Scully, Harwell and the great Harry Carey. Listening to him trying to sing Take Me Out To The Ball Park in the 7th when he was half "S" faced was worth the price of admission.
