    UTV/ATV mechanic help

So I ran into a prom lol doing some work on my ranger. 2013 ranger crew 800. When trying to pull the axles/cv/drive shaft (whatever Polaris calls them) one broke and now I’m not sure how to get it out. Have a slide hammer but really nothing good to grab onto. Any ideas. Pictures include the new axle on the driver side so you can see where it broke on the passenger side.

Vise grip, push in then pull hard out. Repeat until it pops out .

Been soaking in PB plaster for a couple days too. The others were hard to get out but this one’s impossible.

I’ve made a homemade slide hammer for the same thing. Changed an axle because of a torn boot. Just make a tight hook on the puller, hold down firm and hammer away. It’s a spring ring in there that’s holding you up.

I've had the same thing happen a few times on a RZR. We race them so we are always braking stuff and sometimes have to get creative. Have always had success using a pry bar on the the back side. Place between the transmission and axle. Work it around slowly applying pressure prying it out. Helps to have an extra hand pulling with some vice grips attached wiggling the axle while prying. You will likely have to try from different angles or maybe even use two pry bars. This method has always work for me.

When you get it out highly recommend applying anti-seize to the axles before reinstalling

2 hours with a slide hammer later! Had to basically use one arm out of a three arm grabber and just hold it on an inside edge. Shoulders are toast lol.

HIGHLY recommend doing this to ALL of your axles...
