Chevy dual gas tanks

I bought a new to me 2011 Chevy 3500HD and I am wondering about the dual gas tanks. This is a 6.0 gas engine. It has 2 fuel caps that lead to 2 different gas tanks. I can't figure out how to switch between the tanks. Also, I can't figure out which one the fuel gauge is reading.

Any ideas?

Someone will probably know better, but does the 2nd tank auto transfer once the front tank hits a certain fill level (Like 1/4 full)? You should hear a transfer pump turn on at some point, I'd imagine it's pretty loud.

Maybe. I need to crawl around under it and see where the fuel lines go. I am use to the old school with a manual switch.

No manual. I am stopping by the dealer after work. I am sure I will look like an idiot to them when I ask them this question. I was hoping you guys could help because I always look like an idiot to you guys.

Looks like it's automatic and you may have a recall on your truck

I believe some of those dual tank trucks are equipped with a fuel transfer pump that supposedly keeps both tanks at the same level…. No sure if your year model falls into those… Not surprisingly there were some issues and recalls on those systems. Again not sure if your model year falls into that time frame…
