If There Is Ever a Doubt

I have read about the "deadly V" as the spot to aim for but it is hard to see on a deer---unless the deer is really skinny. The doe below is a regular visitor to one of my hunting places, and it is really easy to see the spot on her at the angle between her shoulder blade bone and upper leg bone---I just hope she gains that weight back before October.

I have a doe on my place that looks like that every summer. Come fall, she always appears to have put on a good bit of weight above and beyond how her winter coat thickens up. I think some deer are just like this.

But yup, good look at the anatomy for a shot.

I`ve noticed over the years that a lot of does are skinny this time of year from nursing fawns. Hopefully that is the issue.

That’s an old doe and would be a good one to take this year.
