Bowfishing boat rig question

I got some of the wires ran yesterday. Got my switch panel mounted. Need to mount the battery box now and run the fuel line.

Is there any reason I can't run a ground wire from the battery to the boat and ground the entire boat? Then I can ground the lights (12v) and the bilge to the boat and not have to run more wire.

I say you at the Exxon 45 & 3083 last week. First time I had seen that boat around......just when I thought I knew every other airboat in Conroe!

It used to be black...I'm sure you have seen it around before...just a new look now. New lights, new rail, and new deck.
