Growing a tree from a seed

Anyone had any luck growing a peach tree from a seed or a peach? Bought some peaches from Fairfield that are really good, on the small size but have good flavor. SO I thought I would try getting one to grow from one of the seeds.

No expert here. But... you have to air dry the seed prior to planting seed. I've been successful with cantaloupe, peaches, watermelon, and limes this way.

It can be done, but no guarantee the peach you will get. Coopers being a commercial operation would use their choice of peach variety grafted to root stock. Coopers bulldozed and replanted a bunch of trees last year.

Wouldn’t produce good fruit if any at all or live very long. You need a cutting from the actual tree it cane from grafted onto a disease resistant root stock. Many citrus are the same way, many potatoes at the grocer and vegetables cant be grown from their own either.

Peaches grown on a tree planted from a certain seed probably won’t come back to that variety.
Most improved varieties are grafted to rootstock. Even though the fruit has all the characteristics of the Grafted variety, the seed will be a flier/guess since it was grafted. The pit/seed will take after the rootstock.
For example, if you have a good sugary white peach like a Georgia belle, and you plant a pit/seed and a tree grows, the fruit may be a small yellow cling peach….
