For you folks that have water wells. I have a new home with a 20+ year old water well that hasnt been used since the 90s. I had new everything except casings put in it including a water softener. Its working fine except the water has a metallic taste and has some iron in it. The PH is 7 which is neutral and the water iron tests out at only .310. Will the well eventually clean up after being used for a while or am i stuck with the metallic taste and a slight red tint to the water? I put one of those magnets on the water outlet to the house, but not sure that will work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.... Thanks!

If it's got "color", you mentioned red tint, it has solids floating around in it... You can remove that with a media filter... I'd think you softener would have a media filter in front of it, but if it doesn't, get you one of the big aquapure filter housings and put it in line in front of the softener, then buy the 5 micron filter elements (or better yet, the 1 micron)... Could be the "taste" is coming from the solids. Water is colorless. If you water is not, then it needs cleaning up a bit.
