    Nebraska Public

Hopefully I’ll be traveling to Nebraska for public walk in archery hunting.

    Focusing primarily on SE Nebraska.

I was considering a September hunt and a November hunt as well.

No looking for specifics, just general pointers or pieces of advice. I’m well equipped to put in scouting time during my times there and have already done a fair amount of “internet” and Google Earth/ Onx scouting.

Anyone know anything about crops there and historical harvest times?

    Thanks all

Go in November. I hunt private land in western Nebraska and when the corn, milo and alfalfa is still up, in September, that is where they stay.. IN THE CROPS..
In September I will not see a deer in the 2500 acres of canyons and draws that I hunt due to being surrounded by crops.. By mid November it is a zoo.. Of course everywhere is different..

I love hunting Nebraska. Really good state to hunt with great opportunities. One thing I’d be mindful of is your November dates. Rifle season can be a cluster, especially opening weekend on public land. I’d be certain to book your November bow hunt prior to the rifle opener on the 12th. I bet you really have a good time, and should find success if you’re planning scouting days. This was a rifle kill in the western part of the state on public and we went on a whim with no scouting at all. He’d have scored 150 if he wasn’t broken up, and was 140 as is.

Historically it has been OTC, but this year it’s draw/quota for non-residents.
