    Pronghorn hunt

Anyone hunt with Jonathan Freeman, pronghorn hunt company out of Logan, New Mexico? I might be going on a hunt in August there.

Negative on the guide, but I did hunt 41 last year and stayed in Logan. Let me know if you are hunting 41 and looking for intel.

Has he given any information on the ranches you might be hunting?

So, I don’t know much about the hunt. A friend of mine had someone back out, I just committed to the hunt today. I will get more info.

I’m thinking of taking my 22-250, should be big enough caliber?

In my opinion 22-250 would leave you undergunned. Would recommend taking a deer rifle that you’re comfortable shooting at longer distances.

I have had great success with my 22-250, just looking for a long range rifle. I have a 25-06, .270, .243 and .308. I think a 300 win mag is too much. 25-06 and .243 I have not shot yet, need to sight in. I’m real comfortable with my .270, killed over 500 deer with it and my .308.

That’s a nice area for pronghorn.
I would take any of those calibers , except the 22-250 .
Unless the 22-250 has a 1:8 barrel to stabilize some high b.c bullets

                  1:10 I believe, 26 inch bull barrel. I’m probably going with .270.

I’m limited on time, looking at a Friday to Sunday hunt.

Not that you may ever get checked. But the minimal cailber to hunt big game in New Mexico is a 243. I know Jonathan as well he’s a good guy. For is antelope hunts I don’t know a lot about them he’s hunting some country outside of Logan last I heard. I’ve seen some pictures of the bucks he kills. Looks like they do pretty good.

Good to know, like I said, just found out about it, going with a bigger caliber.

I was DIY and killed on day 2. I hunted state land. Opportunities should not be an issue. I killed my goat with a 243 at 310 yards.

Hunt booked and paid for, hopefully get it done. This will be my first guided hunt ever. I’ve guided probably 80-100 hunts, never been on the other side of it. I’m excited. Bought a .243 off of here, mounted the scope and need to sight it in, taking that and my .270.
