I recently purchased a trophy ridge react pro sight for my bow. It has the rheostat sight light. I am wondering if this sight is legal to hunt with in New Mexico for elk. The regulations state
“Bow only: Any compound, long or recurve bow. Draw locks are
illegal. Arrows must have broadheads (fixed or mechanical) with
cutting edges. Sights on bows may not project light (lighted pins
are acceptable). No drugs may be used on an arrow, and arrows
cannot be driven by explosives, gunpowder or compressed air.”
I am confused by this as the sight light is used to help see the pins better in low light. I interpret projected light meaning that light is projected towards the target which a sight light does not do. I am going to call New Mexico game and fish and ask them but figured I’d ask first if anyone has run across this question before that hunt New Mexico.
Thanks in advance for any help.
