I have a friend that is entertaining the thoughts of leasing his land out for hunting for the next 3 years. It has been hunted very little over the past 2 years by the cattle man. Before that there was not any hunting on it except for trespassers. It is next to Lake Ozzie Cobb in South east Oklahoma. SUpposedly one of the top whitetails in OK came off the adjoining property as it came off his land. There is a deep creek that runs all the way through his property as well as many ponds. There are hardwoods and pines throughout. There are some cleared pastures and some areas that were logged 6 years ago. Any idea what a place like this might lease for. He would like to lease it to someone who lives relativly close to the land.

I hunted between sayer and sweetwater last year. Lots of deer and pretty dumb deer due to lack of pressure.
Am going to hunt tishomingo next season, a bit closer to your area. There are some nice deer in south east Ok. Tishomingo lease doesnt have as many deer, but a few real nice bucks in the area. Cant wait for Oct.
Worst part about OK for me was the license costs. Gotta get a license for each method you want to hunt.

I hunt in Coal county not far from Tishmingo. We have lots of deer and have killed some 160 BC plus deer,my nephew killed a 22" 13 point last year.My bro keeps hogs ran off and we have plenty of poachers for entertainment when not hunting.I'm the only one that bow hunts so the deer are relaxed come rifle season when he hunts.Last year was poor for deer but maybe this year will be better up there!

Sorry about that The property is 1500 acres. My friend would actually be interested in someone possibly that could over see that place as well. I told him that alot of hunters are good people and excellent to work with. ALot spend time at the lease fixing things and helping out. He was thinking about kicking the cattleman off the place and putting some cattle himself on it. He would need the hunters to ride the fences occasionally to check and make sure that nobody cut them. He lives in Dallas and doesnt do much hunting himself. He would possibly want the hunters to help keep up his place and look after it since he is not up there often. A person that lived close would work out great. This would give him someone that could look over the place, make sure no poachers or cattle rustlers were blazing through, and they could get a good hunting place for a good price. HIs place has a creek that dumps in to Lake Ozzie Cobb. It is located directly east and southeast of the lake, if you look it up on google earth, it is the property right past the thick grove of green trees to the east of the lake. His property has been logged at that spot 34 14 20 & 95 24 34 are the coordinates of the home place that burned.

We hunt outside of Tupelo and have a good numbers on about 450 acres. The main thing I noticed in our part of OK is very few farms. Most places raise cattle and horses, we have both!
When we put up a feeder it gets nailed fast.
Good numbers, and a few nice sized bucks, but nothing amazing...

My partner has about 600 acres in Tillman county right on the Red River. We've harvested several Bucks in the 160 class. We harvest fat sassy does every year.We do find ATV tracks and boat landings that aren't ours but he can't be there every second of the day.We do enjoy the short gun season OKLA. offers. The land owner to the east has many gun hunters during those two weeks but things seem to settle down after a week or two when it's over. I have to agree with rjet, the license issue can get pricey. You have to pay for each tag that you want to fill. There is a check in station about thirty minutes away so thats not so bad.I enjoy hunting both sides of the Red River, hope it works out for you too.
