I have a possible hunting opportunity between camp wood and Leakey. Can anyone give me feedback on the hunting? Exotics? Whitetail quality? Turkey? Hogs? Any other info. Thanks.

That's a big span between Campwood and Leakey. All depends on the property you are hunting. I used to own a small place north of Leakey. Saw more Axis than white tail or hogs although, they were all there at times. If it isn't a large managed property don't expect too much for white tail They will likely be small and young. I would target Axis and maybe Auodad depending on where you are. -

We had a lease about 5 miles south of town several years ago. It was a nice place. Located on the opposite side of the highway from Nueces River RV and Cabin Resort (formerly big Oak River Camp) on Hwy 55. It held a good number of whitetail and a scattering of Axis. The deer quality was average but they also had a "narrow gene" too. My son killed a 6.5 y/o that was really heavy & gnarly. He had an 11" inside spread and 9" G2"s. He got him mounted with his ears pinned back and his eyes squinting, as if he was mad. Made a cool mount. That was the best narrow buck killed there, but several other narrow spreads were killed. My young daughter wounded a big wide 8 that we never found. That deer still haunts me !Comment
