    Shingles II. 12 days in

Ok folks. This stuff has gotten old fast. Blisters dried a few days ago. Skin is still discolored. Low grade headache since this started. Again Mike Tyson somehow got in the house and worked me over completely on one side. Front and back. Living on a prayer (Bon Jovi) and ibuprofen continually.
I don’t know what y’all can do, possibly eat anti virals, but you have to protect yourself against this. Right now I’m fighting “post herpatic neuralgia “ which can literally last for months.
    Stay well.

Yessir. Got on anti-virals. Do your homework. If you don’t want a vaccine research supplements. Folks that have had this will back me up on this. You don’t want this to get a hold of you.

I got “ the vaccine “ six years ago at 60. I’ve read that most people that had chicken pox have this virus in them;however, people over fifty are more at risk. Having said that, I friends brother developed them on his forehead at age 44. And s sees his forehead as well.

Thanks Bear. I’m hoping you don’t come down with this.

Caught that chit opening week 2020 and thought I had a rash on my neck from mowing weeds. Called doc over the weekend and it was shingles . Shingles will put you to your knees for days and I fought it for 4 weeks. Had sensitivity issues on neck and back for two months. Basically felt like I was being stabbed with broken glass every 20 minutes. Meds kicked in day 4 and I ice packs is all that seemed to help. Hope you get better soon !

This is the reason I’m sharing this unpleasant journey. Hopefully it will remind the geezers among us that this is a crap shoot. I got vaccinated six years ago and still came down with it. According to NP it was lessened by previous vaccine. Folks this is lessened and still hail.
I go to the gym several times a week. Walk several miles a week, and lift weights. And apparently my immune system was still compromised enough to develope this. Go figure.
Again, not pushing vaccine. I’m pushing research, and do what’s best for you.

My brother was hospitalized twice with shingles. Both time after already having the vaccine. I think it works for some and others it doesn’t.

That’s not encouraging news bro. Seems like there is no immunity to it. I read that it can be stress activated. If that be the case I’m surprised we’re not all hospitalized.

This is day 14 that’s I have had them. My scabs has dried and are starting to fall off.

I still have some residual nerve pain but not as bad as it was.

I am going to do some yard work shortly and hope for the best.

So sorry. Had them in 20. It was horrible. There is a creme they sell at Amazon that helps a little. Hope and pray you get relief soon. I still have a dark spot on my back and itch a lot. Just turned 50 in February so probably gonna go get the shots and hope it works. I would rather have COViD again over shingles.

Just to be clear, there are two types of vaccines for Shingles. Shingrix is the most current one. It's only been available for a few years. It's a two shot series. It will kill the shingles. The other one, a single shot, doesn't always prevent shingles. But will help reduce the possibility of a flair up.

The Chickenpox virus carries and lays the Shingle virus on the nerves in your body. They can lay them on any nerve branch. That is why people have different places of outbreak. It stays dormant for years, sometimes never flaring up. But, if you've had the Chickenpox, you most likely have Shingles. I'd suggest talking with your doctor about the Shingrix series, even if you've had the other shot.

There are other factors that play into a flair up, not just your immune system. Stress is one of them. And there are lots of ways to induce stress on the body, which has an effect on the central nervous system. Too much physical stress can affect your immune system as well. I've had mine run down just by the workouts I was doing. Heat will play a roll as well. Because heat also induces stress on the body. Extreme cold can too.
