    Generator/Electrical question.

My camper is wired 240. 3 wires. Green white black.

    Generator has 4 wire plug.

I bought the adapter but I think I’m only getting 120 through adapter plug.

I need to cut the adapter plug and wire my 3 wired camper to the 4 wires to generator.

Need to know which wires to wire together.

I don’t think your camper is 240V. Black white green is not 240V.

The adaptor plug is meant to take a 240 VAC to 120 VAC. Are you sure your trailer takes 240 VAC from a 3 prong plug? What year is your trailer?

Take this for what it’s worth: I am not an electrician but modern devices that run on 240 VAC normally have two hot wires (generally two black or one red and one black), one neutral (generally white). and a ground wire (generally green).

I would seriously advise against cutting and splicing anything on the adaptor.

Yea camper is 240. Wired just like a house. I bought the wrong adapter plug. Fixing to go get a plug.

Trust me, your camper is not 240!

That camper is not 240v. That is a 30a/120v plug.

220/240 whatever it is. I’m not an electrician. It’s not 110. It hasn’t burned down yet. It’s not a commercial RV. It’s an enclosed trailer converted to camper.

                  The three wire is 120/20amp.

If you are going try to run 240 thru a 120 volt circuit, I would giving your fire dept. a heads up to be on standby. I'm not an electrician either but that trailer plug is 30 amp.-120 volt, like others have said.

                    Good luck

We were all assuming that is a commercially made camper. Since it’s homemade, then you probably know better than us. If it’s truly 240v, I would just change the plug on the trailer cord and do away with the idea of an adapter. Any adapter that goes to that pattern of plug will only supply 120v.

Agreed the plug on the trailer is a 3 wire 110 plug. Although it’s wired in the box as 2 hots and a ground. I’ve never ran the trailer on a generator before. I have always had it plugged in to 220 at the house or lease 24/7. Thanks for the education on the plugs and wiring.

Yes, my mistake for not clarifying. Male plug end is enroute.

                            Generator/Electrical question.

So, you’re saying there are 2 places (your house and the lease) where you can plug that 120v, 30A plug into a 240v circuit?????Something sure dosen’t sound kosher here. I hope the next thread we see isn’t “Somehow my camper burned up!”
