      We had a massive gopher tortoise on our place a couple years ago strut right past us. You could have thrown a saddle on that thing.

        They can nove pretty fast.
        I was about 5 feet from them in the Mule when I pulled out the phone to snap a pic. The doe(?) tortise noticed me and took off.
        That pic was at about 15 feet and zoomed.
        Granted, a focused hare could easily beat one in a foot race, but they certainly don't move at a snail's pace!
