    Chevy ac problem

My son's 2005 chevy silverado has an AC that isn't cooling. I bought the AC pro freon with gauge. On the gauge it runs to the red section when the compressor is off, but when the clutch kicks in the pressure drops to the low freon part. It keeps repeating. What does this mean?

It drops below the green on the gauge when the clutch kicks in? Is it short cycling?

Yes it drops when the clutch kicks in. I don't know what short cycling is.

You need to add Freon. It’s low.

also replace the cycle switch on the accumulator bottle they are notorious on that model for going bad and are like 12$ at auto store

I put more freon in it and the gauge stopped going back and forth. It settled down in the "charged" section. The AC started to blow colder. Also, the compressor stopped kicking on and off every 10 seconds.
