Catfishing….

Man, I had a pectoral fin in the palm of my hand a few years ago. It was so deep I had to cut it out with my knife. All I had for any kind of first aid in my little flat bottom was alcohol pads to clean glasses with. After I cut it out I squeezed all the fluid out of several pads on it then scraped some slime off the catfish and rubbed that on it. It never gave me a minute’s trouble other than the standard wound. I heard old folks say that the slime thing would work, but that’s the only time I ever had to try it, (thank goodness). The fish flopping with that fin buried and the knife part was not fun though. I’ve been very careful how I handle one of
those little catfish ever since. I also put a first aid kit in my boat !

Had weldon kirk show me that he breaks off all 3 fins before throwing them on ice. Reduces sticks and when you got a boat full helps keep them from sticking each other

PSA from an old very experienced catfisherman... That slime trick WORKS!! You get finned by a freshwater catfish, just scrape some of that belly slime off the fish and rub it into the wound... It won't even get sore...
It DOES NOT work for hardheads in saltwater tho!! I tried it!!

Maybe for a scratch but when the fin goes all the way thru ur foot or hand no amount of slime is gonna fix dat.
