    Understanding NM Mule Deer

I drew an early November rifle tag in West Central NM. Looking for anyone with experience in that area understanding deer movement at that time. This particular unit the rut normally takes place in January so they won't be rutting.

I know they'll move down the mountain as it gets colder but looking for a little more insight. Having little experience out there just curious is we should start high and work our way down or by November are they already moved down into more rolling plains. I know weather will play a big factor but curious on an average year what the deer habits are in early Nov.

Also it appears the unit is getting a decent amount of rain so brows should be good high and low. Making it hard to pick a starting point.

Best thing would simply get there a couple days early and sit on ridges and glass. Glass early and glass late. During the day glass under anything that makes a shadow. Movement might be sporadic but eventually you will see deer and be able to make a plan. Every day should start off with people looking over different areas and putting deer to bed. Once located and put to bed then the hunt begins. I know this sounds pretty bland but it’s the way it has to be done. Like some guys I like to watch on YouTube always say, it doesn’t do any good to hunt where there are no deer. The only way to find deer is to move a lot
