I was too young to remember Carson but the two clips I have came across were stellar. The debut of Drew Carey and Louie Anderson. The way the had Carson audibly guffawing is great.

Very true. I used to stay up late to watch him, as a teenager back in the 80s. I love watching old Johnny Carson shows. I tried to watch some of the other late night guys many years ago, I did not care for any of them. So I quit watching late night shows a long time ago.
