We've had nothing but outstanding service and claim values from State Farm through the years. Homeowner claims, auto hail, and auto accident totals. All were fast and paid more than I was expecting. Never did a DV claim, however. Funny how experiences with the same company can be so different. They did just raise my homeowners $500 a year, so not thrilled with that big increase on top of gas and groceries also now costing a fortune.

I've been with SF for the last 35 years for auto and 26 years for home. Never had any issues with claims of any sort, that includes auto accidents (both my fault and others), and home claims (water damages, roof damages, etc.). We previously had an excellent agent that went way out of his way for his clients. Sadly, he decided to get into another business venture. Our most recent agent is very helpful, but a little disorganized (best way for me to describe it).

I have had to deal with Geico, Progressive, Allstate, and USAA for claims on others auto insurance. Progressive was the worst to deal with and Geico was not much better. USAA for auto claims is a dream!

Seems that many on here who are clients have positive reviews. What about a DV and you're not a client? With the wreck being a SF client's fault?

The fish are biting, and there's hogs to be kill-t. Gotta go!

My sisters car was hit by a guy that has Farm B. FB is paying to have her car fixed.

How does she calculate DV? And is it harder to fight with another company you're not insured with?

Is DV the same as long as car is recorded as being in a wreck or does it change depending on amount of damage to car?

You start with 10% of the car's value. Then you get a percentage of that based on the amount of damage. (Major damage=100%, moderate damage may be 50%, minor damage might be 20%). Get that figure and then you factor in mileage. Less than 20,000 miles=100%. 20-40,000 75%, etc...

Say you wreck a $30,000 car with 50,000 miles.

            $30,000 x 10% = $3000

            Moderate damage, so 50% of $3000= $1500

            35,000 miles, so 75% of $1500. You get a check for $1125.

Never even heard of a DV until this thread. Been with SF the better part of forty years. They are expensive and I hate them just as bad as I hate a lawyer. But they have always took care of us when things went wrong and with very little extra effort on our part. Auto and home claims have been handled with ease.
But now I'll need to get educated on DV just so I can sleep tonight.

Been in this situation. Son was in an accident that totaled his vehicle. The other driver was at fault and had State Farm. Thought I would check what they would pay verses what our insurance company was paying and wasn't even close. Terrible to deal with.

When had State Farm they got real ugly over a relocation and continued coverage so dropped them.

I’ve been with State Farm since the 70’s. They’ve always done what I needed them to do, through many claims of varying degrees of property loss/ damage. Like a good neighbor…

Same experience. I have been with State Farm for 37 years now and have had zero problems when filing claims.
