Just a thought, might want to apply also for any groundman positions open with the utility companies. A young person with a good head on their shoulders that is dependable and not scared to work will move up quick to a lineman.

Thats a really good question. I know the Waco campus had employers in there daily trying to recruit when I graduated there in 2008. Does the campus hes at not do this? Has he went to his teachers to ask if they could help him find a job? Again, my teachers had contacts and would bend over backwards for you if you were serious.

Might try Centerpoint. I started off as a grunt with them back in the day. May be a way to get his foot in the door and then go somewhere he really wants to be.
